Dubai Customs seizes 2kg of prohibited substances

Dubai Customs seizes pellets of prohibited substances inside ship at Al Hamriyah Port. ;
  • Published: 15:24 July 7, 2013

Dubai: Dubai Customs, supported by its inspectors and the latest inspection techniques, have successfully managed to seize pellets of prohibited substances found inside the command cabin of a wooden ship loaded with vegetables arriving at Al Hamriyah Port.

The crew, along with the seized haul and investigation report, were referred to the Anti-Narcotic Department at Dubai Police to proceed with necessary legal action.

Butti Al Zafri, Director of Coastal Customs Centres at Dubai Customs, said that the successful seizure operation is yet another of Dubai Customs’ successes in thwarting smuggling attempts. Dubai Customs is always keen to provide the latest training programmes to its Customs officials, he added.

Using the latest inspection equipment and highly sophisticated IT support, inspection teams at Dubai Customs are regularly trained in the techniques, methods and ways of smuggling in order to better combat the threats, and they receive intensive training on how to identify goods which are prohibited and restricted.
